The Rotary Club Ragusa was established on November 5, 1956, through the initiative of 28 qualified professionals and entrepreneurs from the area, being the first service club in the province.
The Club is part of Rotary International, which counts more than 1,200,000 members in over 35,000 clubs located in more than 200 countries worldwide, and belongs to District 2110 Sicily and Malta, which includes over 100 clubs with nearly 4,000 members.
The main purpose of Rotary is to encourage and develop the ideal of “service,” understood as the driving force and engine behind every activity.
In particular, it aims to:
- Promote and develop friendly relationships among its members, making them better equipped to “serve” the common good;
- Advocate for the highest standards of integrity in business and professional practices, recognizing the dignity of every useful occupation and ensuring it is exercised in the most honorable manner as a means of “serving” society;
- Guide the private, professional, and public activities of individuals toward the concept of “service”;
- Promote mutual understanding, goodwill, and peace between nations by fostering friendly relations among representatives of various economic and professional activities worldwide, united in a common purpose and the will to “serve.”
